July 1994 to Aug 2000

Assistant to Dr. Yar Petryszyn (Univ. Of AZ ) on project at Coronado National Memorial ( Monitoring of Abandoned Mines, Caves, and other Features and Assessing Bat Use at Coronado National Memorial ) . Project included exit counts and Agave- Leptonycteris curasoae interactions at Coronado National Memorial. This was a 7 year project. Night-vision goggles used for exit counts and agave observations. Yar P. is writing this project up for publication.

2000 - 2001

(Population Composition and Genetic Structure of Leptonycteris curasoae in southern Arizona ) Project. Assisted Ted Fleming with data collection and tissue samples of L. curasoae for genetic analysis at Ted's lab at the University of Miami.

Aug 2000 to Present

( Bat Monitoring and Netting at Chiricahua National Monument ). This project is To comparing the dry and wet months at selected water sites for bat species and Present diversity. Nine nights of bat netting carried out. I am the P.I. for the project.

Mar 2001 to July 2001 Hired to write a book on hummingbirds for Publications International. This will be To a coffee-table book for the general public. It will have 6 chapters, 2 side-bars per chapter, and over 200 photos with captions. The book is complete and at publisher.
July 2001 to 2006

( Bat Use of Bat Houses in Tucson, AZ ) Project at the Arizona-Sonora Desert To Museum (ASDM). A 3-5 year project funded by the Wallace Foundation to test 2006 bat preference for bat houses at ASDM. I am the P.I. for the project.  Speaker to groups, clubs, workshops, schools, dude ranches, conferences, etc. on hummingbirds and bats.

Honorable Mention in the Exhibit Design Category of articles published in 1989. ( The Creation and Operation of a Native Hummingbird Exhibit ) . The American Association of Zoo Keepers. Animal Keepers' Forum .

Aug 1993

AAZK Jean C. Hromadka Excellence in Zookeeping Award for outstanding work with hummingbirds and work in educational outreach and staff training.

Aug 1993 Excellence in Journalism Award from Animal Keepers' Forum and the American Association of Zoo Keepers, Inc. Article ( Four Years of Hummingbird Breeding at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum ) .
